Accepting Applications for Police Officer and Public Works Employee
The St. John, Indiana Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. St. John’s Probationary Officers earn $55,844.99* during their first year, earn $64,471.68* as second class patrolman in their second year and earn $69,560.40* as first class patrolman in their third year once they qualify. A competitive benefit package is also provided which includes, paid holidays, personal days, vacation days and insurance.
Applicants must be 21 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Applicants must be a US citizen of good moral character with no felony convictions, and possess a valid driver’s license. Applicants must not have attained the age of 36 by the time of their appointment.
Applications will be available at the St. John Clerk-Treasurers Office, 10955 W. 93rd Avenue, St. John, Indiana 46373, starting:
October 16, 2017 thru November 10, 2017
Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm and
2nd and 4th Saturday from 9:00am – 1:00pm
There is a fee of $30.00 (cash only) per application packet.
The Physical Assessment Certification will be performed by the Northwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. The fee for the Physical Assessment Certification is $25.00 and provides a certification certificate that is good for six (6) months for any agency application requiring this certification.
Completed applications must be returned to the St. John Police Department, located at 11033 W. 93rd Avenue, St. John, Indiana by no later than 4:00 P.M. on Friday, December 22, 2017.

Public Works Employee
The Town of St. John is currently accepting applications for a position in Public Works Department. The position is entry level, and is Full-Time non-exempt.
All interested individuals should possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and have some experience in the construction industry. Must also have or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
This position carries a competitive hourly wage and includes: paid vacation, paid holidays and health, life and dental insurance.
