Gun Permits

OPTION 1 (Estimated time of two weeks before you receive your gun permit)

1. Submit your application online to the Indiana State Police by clicking here: ONLINE GUN PERMIT REGISTRATION
2. After completing your online registration, you will have the option to pay the State Portion of the application fee and to schedule an appointment with L-1 Identity Solutions for fingerprinting.
3. After you complete the fingerprinting process with L-1 Identity Solutions, you will need to bring your receipt from L-1 to the St. John Police Department with the Town portion of the application fee payable to the "Town of St. John" in the form of a money order or cashier's check. Personal checks, credit cards and/or cash will not be accepted.  You can do this on Mondays and Tuesdays between the hours of 9:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M., and on Wednesdays from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., excluding holidays. 
4. You application process is not complete until the above steps are completed.  The estimated time to receive your license using this option is approximately 2 weeks.

OPTION 2 (Estimated time of twelve to fourteen weeks before you receive your gun permit)

1. Submit your application online to the Indiana State Police by clicking here: ONLINE GUN PERMIT REGISTRATION
2. After completing the online registration, you will need to complete the application process at the St. John Police Department.  You can do this on Mondays and Tuesdays between the hours of 9:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M., and on Wednesdays from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., excluding holidays.  You will need the following:
• Application fees.  Payment of fees must be in the form of two (2) separate money orders or cashier's checks; one (1) made payable to "State of Indiana" for State Fee, and one (1) made payable to "Town of St. John" for Town Fee.  Personal checks, credit cards and/or cash will not be accepted.
• A valid I.D. (driver's license or I.D. card) with proof of St. John residency.
  
3. You application process is not complete until the above steps are completed.  The estimated time to receive your license using this option is approximately 12-14 weeks.
